Datto Networking: How Do DHCP and IP Assignment Work?

Question

How do DHCP and IP assignment work in Datto Networking?

Environment

  • Datto Network Manager

Answer

By default, each node provides built-in DHCP routing, dynamically assigning IP addresses to clients, regardless of which SSID they are using. Nodes are capable of assigning 1,022 total IP addresses. DHCP and custom IP address assignment are features of Datto Routers and are not available on Datto Access Points.

If you prefer to use your LAN's DHCP server, enable Bridge mode on any SSID (one by default; multiple if you enter a VLAN tag). Once enabled, Network Manager will forward all requests to your internal DHCP server.
