This article details valid search parameters and operators for use when doing restores as well as how to use the snapshot level and domain level searches in Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection for Office 365

Description

Searchable fields within Recovery

If you are using the search feature, you will be limited to querying the following fields:

  • The subject line of the email
  • The sender address of the email
  • Title of the document
  • Title of the calendar event
  • Name or email address of the contact card

Boolean operators in a restore search query

You can use Boolean operators (like AND and OR) in search queries. Make sure to capitalize them in the query.

Search limitations

  • A search query must have at least three characters.  
  • Symbols, such as !, @, +, etc. cannot be searched.  
  • Underscores must be preceded by a forward slash (e.g. "\_" )

Snapshot-level and domain-level searches

Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection provides users with two primary search methodologies that allow for easier search and navigation:

Snapshot-level Search

1. From your Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection dashboard, click the Recovery tab and select the service you wish to search through or click the service listed under Backups.

2. Select the desired user you wish to search for.

3. In the user snapshot view, click the Search Account button to open the search term dialog box.

4. From this dialog box, you will be able to search your selected user/service for metadata containing keywords you enter.

Searching for different snapshots

1. To change the snapshot date, click the date under Snapshot to the left of the search box.

2. Select an available date and time to search within that specific snapshot.

Domain-level Search

Searching for files or folders

Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection lets you search for specific files and folders.

1. From your Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection dashboard, click the Recovery tab and select the service you wish to search through or click the service listed under Backups.

2. Click the Search tab.

3. Populate the following fields:

  • Term: Search for files or folders by name or keywords.  This term will only search the metadata information for the data and cannot include special characters or content from the data.  
  • Date: Specify a date. Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection will return a list of files retrieved from a snapshot closest to that date. 
  • Data set: If you are searching through a service that contains multiple data sets, such as Microsoft Exchange, select which data set to search through.
  • Users: Advance your search filter by entering one or more users.

4. After you have populated the fields mentioned above, click SEARCH.

Accessing the contents of a folder

To access the contents of a folder, click the folder name that was returned from your search results.
