Selecting a restore date

You can also search through snapshots for particular users and select items from various points in time.

To change the snapshot restore date:

1. Click the Snapshot drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the screen. A calendar will open. Choose the date and time from which you wish to restore.

2. Select an available date and time to search for the specific snapshot.

After starting a restore, the system will prompt to restore all the items in the snapshot or just the selected ones. Restoring a full snapshot is useful if a user deletes the entire contents of their mailbox, or in the event of a ransomware attack.

Restore locations

By default, the data will restore to the original owner's account, but you may choose any other user to restore to if you wish.

You can only restore to other accounts that are part of the same Office 365 tenant and which have been seated in Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection for Office 365.

When the content restores, Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection will create a folder that uses the following naming convention: (Backupify Restore YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS). The folder will have the time and date of the restore, along with the name of the service. The timestamp prevents restored items from overwriting current content.  Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection cannot restore empty folders in the OneDrive hierarchy.

OneNote file restores

Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection cannot restore OneNote data as a unified file, as Microsoft does not support OneNote data imports outside of the OneDrive app. Instead, this data will restore as individual notebook files. See Move a OneNote notebook to OneDrive (external link) for assistance with moving notebook files.

Restore status

You can check the status of your restores for a particular service under the Restores tab. This view also acts as a complete audit log of your restores, since Backupify will never clear out this information.

Restore failures

Internal Microsoft exceptions, communication issues with Microsoft's APIs, and processing errors can interrupt restores. If you experience ongoing problems completing restores, contact Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection Technical Support.
