Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection for Google Apps provides robust options to control Gmail access for end users to aid our customers in achieving regulatory and administrative compliance.
You can define the options below through the Active Users CSV upload, which can be found by navigating to Users >> Add Users >> Upload CSV. Choose your file and save to apply the the end user configuration.
Active Users CSV Format and Fields
Example import format to enable additional access and Gmail restrictions:
|Email Address||Disallow Gmail||Additional Access for Gmail|
This is the end user for which you are defining permissions. Once an email is added to the CSV, Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection will begin backing up the associated user's GSuite Data.
This field determines whether the associated user has access to view their own Gmail data in Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection. The field can be set to 3 different options:
- False - the associated user will have full access to view their own Gmail data in Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection.
- True - the associated user will have no access to view their own Gmail data in Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection. The user will still have view access for their other backed up GSuite services.
- Blank, other - the option will default to whatever option was set previously. If no option had been previously set, this will default to false.
Note: If a user has no access to their own Gmail, they cannot have access to other accounts' Gmail.
Additional Access for Gmail
This field allows you to give the associated user access to Gmail from other accounts. You may list multiple users in this field, delimited by semicolons.
Note 1: When creating an "Additional Access for Gmail" permission, all users listed in the third column must be previously existing users, not users that are created in the same CSV import. This restriction only applies to the "Additional Access for Gmail" permission, not the "Disallow Gmail" permission.
Note 2: If the second column is empty (or invalid; i.e., any value other than "true" or "false"), AND a third column exists, AND the third column is empty, the "Additional Access for GMail" permission will be removed for the user listed in the first column (if it already exists).
Accessing Others' Gmail
In order to access another user's Gmail whose data you have access to, simply navigate to the desired user in the interface under the Users tab.
