Exchange Mailbox Restore with Kroll Ontrack for ALTO (Kroll Restore)



This article explains the process for performing a Granular Kroll Restore on an ALTO appliance with no Granular Restore options in the GUI.

This article only applies to ALTO devices that are not on per-agent pricing. For SIRIS and ALTO 3 appliances, see Exchange Mailbox Restore with Kroll Ontrack (Kroll Restore).


Before performing the restore, you will need to purchase a Kroll license. You can do this through your Sales Executive, or you can navigate to the Purchasing & Billing → Service Billing category on the Datto Partner Portal. After you purchase the license, you will receive an invoice confirming the transaction. An email with the licensing information will only be delivered once the charge has gone through.

When you receive the license, download the Kroll installer from our servers, and skip to step 4.3 of Exchange Mailbox Restore with Kroll Ontrack (Kroll Restore).
