What do I do if I receive the 'This G Suite account does not have the proper permissions to authorize Backupify to back up your domain' message?

If you receive the 'This G Suite account does not have the proper permissions to authorize Backupify to back up the ["your domain name"] domain, the message in the user interface tells you to 'Please contact our support team for further assistance'.

But what does it mean, and how can you fix it?

Well, this most likely means that the Google Apps user/e-mail address you used to sign up for Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection with is not a Google Apps Super Admin-level user within your environment. If your user is not a Super Admin, grant it Super Admin rights, and attempt to log-in again. If you do not wish to grant this user Super Admin rights, and you wish to sign up using a different user/account, contact Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection Support at support@backupify.zendesk.com (or 800-518-7449) to have us clear out your first attempt to set up the account so you can start service under a different user.

In rare cases, this message could also pop up if you do not have the 'Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection for Google Apps Backup' G Suite Marketplace app installed... make sure that's installed moving forward.

And, in even rarer cases, this message could appear if there is an existing account in the Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection system with your domain name. If the above steps 'check out', reach out to Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection Support at support@backupify.zendesk.com (or 800-518-7449), and we can destroy any legacy/expired accounts with your domain name so that you can set up your new account.
