Resolving Package Update Errors and Debian Dependency Issues

This article describes the errors that can arise when a device cannot apply package updates, and the reasons behind them.

The device currently has active restores

This error appears on the Device Updates page, accessed through the Configure tab of the device UI. Some OS updates on the device may be unable to continue if there are any local restores mounted. Use the steps below to clean up and unwanted restores and allow the updated to continue.

  • Click the Restore tab on the UI and check for any mounted restores. A recovery point comparison will also cause this error.
  • If there are any active recovery points, ensure that they are no longer needed, then click on Remove Restore for each one.

When updating the OS manually, screenshots can also cause the error. To check for screenshots in progress, Open the device UI, click Advanced, then select Advanced Device Status from the drop-down menu. Here you can see the screenshot queue and any screenshots currently in progress.
