How do I import exported Google Contacts exports back to my Google account?


Restoring all the Contacts from your archives back in to a Google account is fast and easy. In just a few steps you can get all of your Contacts back in to your Google Contacts. The export that we provide you with contains your backed up Google Contacts records in a VCF file format. To get the data back in to Google Contacts:

1) Log in to your gmail account at

2) Navigate to your Contacts section or click this link:

3) Select the button labeled 'More' and click the link that says 'Import'

4) A pop up box will show up... click the 'Choose File' button, and point to the exported VCF file that you downloaded. Then, if you want to have the data moved in to a specific group, then you can specify that. Once ready, click the 'Import' button to get your Contacts back in to Google.

Once this is completed, then you will have the backed up Google Contacts back in to your Gmail account.
