What Google Drive data does Backupify for Google Apps backup?

Follow

With Backupify for Google Apps, we offer the peace of mind that all of your critical Drive data is backed up. This includes native Google documents, as well as Microsoft Office documents, images, and other files you may have saved to your Google Drive. There is a small subset of files that we cannot backup. These are:

  • Google Forms - While we can't back up the form itself due to Google not having an API available, we do back up the resulting response spreadsheet which contains the questions from the form.

  • Google Scripts and Fusion Tables - These are also not available for export through the Google APIs. The underlying data for fusion tables will be backed up as a spreadsheet if it is in your Drive.

  • Microsoft Office temporary files - When you're editing a Office doc that's saved in Drive, Office will create a temporary file that gets deleted once your file is saved. You might see it as ~$example.docx. Since these temporary files don't have content in them and cannot be restored, they aren't backed up. This helps backups run faster and keeps your folder uncluttered.

  • Some 3rd-party documents - Docs from 3rd parties like Smartsheet and Lucidchart cannot be backed up in Drive. We offer a separate Backupify product for Smartsheet documents, and are always working on adding additional services. Contact us for more information.
