How can I use the Search feature?

Can I search through all records for all users in my domain in one query?

Search works on a per user per service basis; i.e. you can search through all Gmail backups for 1 user at a time, but cannot also search other user's Gmail backups in that same query. The same goes for Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts, and Sites backups.

If you are looking to search across all user accounts and backups for discovery then it cannot be done; only on a per user per service basis.

We do give you the ability to export your backed up data which you could then search through locally.

 

How can I search my archives for specific records?

To search through your backed up records, an admin can initiate a search using the Search Toolbar in the upper right of the screen when viewing a service, or from the user preview tray on the dashboard.

Type in a search term (all metadata associated with the archives is searched: To/From, Subject, Title, Labels, Folders, Name, etc)

To refine your search results, limit the date range using the “Start date” and “End date” or add new search terms in the “Query” field.

 

Why did my search return '1000+' results?

For searches that result in over 1000 records, we only display the first 1000 or so.  We suggest you use more narrow search terms to find the item you are looking for.
