Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection for G Suite 1.0: Can I restore data to another user?


Yes. Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection for Google Apps allows you to restore records to any active domain user in your Backupify account. Only administrators can choose to restore to a different end-user than the original owner.

For any restore, the default is to restore to the same user. Administrators can also specify to direct the restore to a different Google user. When the admins does a restore, they will see ‘Restore To’ field, they can type any name from their domain in here to select the user that they want to restore the data to.

There are a few restrictions:

  • You can only restore to Active users in Google, not Suspended or Deleted users
  • Only Administrators can restore to different users... any child users (non-administrators) can only restore data back to their own account
  • You cannot restore a user on another subdomain. The user to restore to must exist in the same domain
