Failed screenshot with customized login screen

This article describes the cause and solution for screenshot errors resulting from customized login screens.

Figure 1: Custom Windows Log In

Part of the screenshot verification process involves image processing. Modifications such as the following can effect the image processing (Figure 1).

  • Complex rasterized background images
  • Complex fonts
  • Windows shell modification

By having those potential changes, it can effect the screenshot verification process in which a perfectly bootable point may show as screenshot failed due to the image processing.

As a solution to this, use the default Windows theme or manually configure the Windows machine so the log in screen appears to be unmodified.  If in the case the settings have been modified, a new backup has been taken and the screenshot is still showing as failed, please contact Datto Technical Support to troubleshoot the issue and/or verify the point is bootable although showing failed screenshot.
