I've changed my Facebook password. Will this affect my Facebook Fan Page backup?

Changing your Facebook password does not affect your Backupify backups at all. We do not save your username and password to backup your data. Rather, we use the Oauth protocol to get your data to backup. When you first added the account(s) to Backupify, you granted access for Backupify to your Facebook account. That process gave us Oauth keys to access your data over the backend. We do not use your password and you can change it as much as you want and it will not affect the backups.



How do I configure what parts of my Facebook Fan Page get backed up?

If you look at your Facebook Fan Page service, you will see a configure button on the dashboard for the page. Here you will be able to configure what you would like brought into your archives.



I added Facebook to my services, but do not see Places.

Backupify does not currently archive Facebook Places or FML markup code. Most of this due to unavailability of this data in Facebook Open Graph API, but as data support gets better, we’ll integrate this content into Backupify Facebook archives.



How can I add multiple Facebook Fan Page accounts to Backupify?

If you have multiple Facebook accounts and wish to back them all up, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to http://www.facebook.com, and log out of any accounts you are currently logged into. Log-in to the account you wish to back up.
  1. In a separate tab, go to http://app.backupify.com, and log-in to your Backupify for Social Media account.
  1. Click on the "Settings" gear icon located at the top right of the dashboard of your Backupify account.
  1. Click "Add Services" from the drop-down menu 

  2. Click "Add" next to Facebook Fan Page (you will need to be an admin on the fan page) and follow the steps to add your account.

Repeat each step until you have added all of the accounts you wish to back up.



Can I restore back into Facebook?

Currently, Facebook does not allow restoration through their API. Until they enable this service, we are only able to Backup and Archive this data to help you rebuild your services. We can provide you with an export of all of your records for either service.



My Facebook export contains mostly JSON files: What are they and how can I view them?

The .json files that you can download through the archives are the files containing the raw data that we received when backing up the service. The raw data is not very human consumable but you can open it with any text editor to review the contents. It will contain all of the metadata associated with the file. Some of our services currently only allow us to export to .JSON, but we are working on tools to convert these files into an easily viewable .pdf format.
