How to Use VNC to Connect to the ShadowProtect Recovery Environment



This article gives the procedure to set up VNC within the ShadowProtect Recovery Environment with the goal of being able to access the Recovery Environment from another computer on the same local network. It also allows Datto Technical Support to access the recovery environment to assist you with a restore.


This procedure assumes that you running a machine booted off of the ShadowProtect Recovery Environment with network access.

1. Click the Tools menu, and click UltraVNC Service, as shown in Figure 1.

2. At the prompt, enter a password that you want to use. Then, type it again to verify it.

3. Click OK, which will start the UltraVNC service. You can then access the recovery environment from another computer on the LAN.
