Scope

This article provides the layout and hardware specifications for Datto's SIRIS 500 and SIRIS 1000 appliances, and instructions for working with the hardware.

Device Layout

Figure 1 shows the back panel of a SIRIS 1000 device. The SIRIS 500 back panel is similar.

Hardware Specifications

SIRIS 250 (S250)

  • Storage and OS drive: 1 x 500GB (partitioned, 250GB OS drive, 250GB storage) 
  • Processor: 3.1 GHz
  • Memory: 8G 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
  • NIC: Gigabit NIC 

SIRIS 500 (S500)

  • Storage: 2 x 500GB 
  • Processor: 3.1 GHz
  • OS Drive: 1 x 500GB 
  • Memory: 16G 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
  • NIC: Gigabit NIC 

SIRIS 1000 (S1000)

  • Storage: 2 x 1TB 
  • Processor: 3.1 GHz
  • OS Drive: 1 x 1TB 
  • Memory: 16G 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
  • NIC: Gigabit NIC

Working with the Hardware

Opening the Chassis

  1. Remove the four screws on the back of the chassis.


  2. Push the case off by sliding it towards the back of the device.


  3. Lift the two tabs along the front to detach the front portion of the chassis.


  4. Push the ridged end of the two yellow handles forward towards the front of the device.  This will allow you to remove the drive carriage.


  5. The appliance's components are in the following positions.  The green circle indicates connections to the array drives.
    • After detaching the drive carriage and disconnecting the array drives, you will see the following.  The green circle shows the disconnected array drives; the arrow indicates the OS drive is still connected.
