SIRIS, ALTO, and NAS: Network Attached Storage



This article explains the process to create a Network Attached Storage share on a Datto appliance. Before following these steps, decide whether you want to create a NAS or iSCSI share.


Connect to your Datto appliance through the web interface. Then, click the File Share menu and select Network Attached Storage, as shown in Figure 1.

This will bring you to the Your Shares page. If you have any existing shares, they will be listed on this page.

Click on the Add a New Share button to start the Create Share Wizard.

In the Create Share Wizard, enter a name for the share. Next, choose whether you want to use the default configuration settings or the settings from another share. Last, choose whether you want to create an iSCSI or NAS share.

If you are creating a NAS share, click the Next button to continue.

If you are creating an iSCSI share, fill in the Share Size and Block Size. Then, click Next.

When the share is created, you will see the Share created message as shown in Figure 5.

Click Add Another to create another share. Otherwise, click Continue, and you will returned to the Your Shares page. You will see the newly-created share listed, as shown in Figure 6. To configure individual settings for your share, click the Configure Share Settings link.
