Question

How do SaaS Protection/Backupify for Office 365 usernames and passwords work?

Environment

  • Datto SaaS Protection for Office 365
  • Backupify for Office 365

Answer

Signing up for an Office 365 account

MSP/Partner: When you sign up for a Datto SaaS Protection for Office 365 account, you should OAuth in using a system administrator user account with privileges to all users, services and sites that you want to back up.

The MSP must be an administrator on the customer’s Office 365 suite or have administrator credentials for this setup process.

End user: Backupify login credentials are specific to Backupify, and not related to your Office 365 login credentials.

Does SaaS Protection/Backupify store my Office 365 password?

No. We use OAuth2. The Office 365 Admin grants the application access to their data through Microsoft when they authorize scopes service-side.
