Can Datto Drive sync my QuickBooks data?

QuickBooks is an accounting software package developed by Intuit. QuickBooks products are mainly geared toward small and medium-sized businesses, and offer local and cloud-based accounting applications that manage payroll, accounts receivable, and billing tasks.
Datto Drive offers File Sync & Share options to small and medium-sized businesses. These applications allow document hosting on external cloud storage platforms for external access. Datto Drive was not designed with the intention of being a "backup" of your data, nor should you try to sync an entire volume from your computer to Datto Drive.
Reasons for concern:
- QuickBooks files are constantly changing. Since Datto Drive does not have the ability to take a snapshot of the file before it is sent, changes and data integrity can be lost. This is something our Datto SIRIS and ALTO product lines offer. In terms of a VSS validated backup, those solutions lock the entire database, take a snapshot, and back up the snapshot to our BDR Appliances.
- QuickBooks files may be accessed by multiple employees at once, causing a increased chance of creating conflict files. These files cause problems for employees that need constant access to QuickBooks files for business operations.
- QuickBooks files may not be picked up at opportunities to sync if employees have them open.
If you attempt to back up QuickBooks files on Datto Drive, we recommend to only sync them when the QuickBooks application is entirely closed and no user is accessing the application.
