Enabling Two-Factor Authentication

You can enable two-factor authentication for your firm on the Partner Portal. Log in and access the Manage Employees section by choosing the Admin tab > Manage Employees. From there, select "Yes" for the option to enable two-factor authentication for your partner account.

Two-factor authentication requires that each of your employees permissioned to access your firm's Partner Portal account have an associated cell phone number. Employees authenticate via their phones.

Bear in mind that people do lose their phones. To maintain access to an account in the event of a lost phone, consider installing Authy on multiple devices that use the same phone number (e.g., iPhone and iPad). You can change phone numbers as well, but this process can take up to 72 hours to complete after submitting a change request, leaving you without access for the interim.

Setting up for Authentication

Each of your techs should download the Authy app on the mobile device associated with their phone number. Authy is available for free for Windows, iOS, and Android.

Again, the authorization is based on the tech's mobile phone number, so you can edit each employee's profile to input a number. 

Authenticating

With employees in the system and two-factor authentication enabled, the next step is to download the Authy app on the mobile device associated with that employee's phone number. Authy is available for free for Windows, iOS, and Android.

When the tech tries to enter the Partner Portal, he or she will be prompted to enter an authentication key. 

At this point, the tech needs to authenticate via ANY ONE of the following options:

    1. Authy OneTouch. Simply entering credentials into the Partner Portal will trigger an alert in the Authy app on the tech's mobile device. Swiping the alert completes the authentication.

    2. The tech can request the portal to send an SMS token to the relevant phone number. Entering the key in the Token or Security Key field and then clicking Sign In completes the authentication. 

    3. Launch Authy to receive a key, and manually type that key into the login prompt. The key will expire after 20 seconds.

Lost Phone

If you lose your phone, you can continue accessing accessing your Partner Portal account after performing a 2 factor authentication reset or resetting your phone number once you have a new one.

If you have the same phone number as before, you only have to reinstall the Authy app to regain access.

If your phone number has changed, go to https://www.authy.com/phones/change to reset your number. Click the I don’t have access to my phone button at the bottom of the screen to get started. Once submitted, the process can take up to 72 hours to complete.
