Scope / Background
This article explains an issue with Firefox and Adobe Flash that prevents course completion in Datto Academy and gives instructions to work around the problem.
When taking an eLearning course in Datto Academy and using the Firefox browser, the following issues may occur:
- When you click the Submit/Exit button, the course does not close. When you click the X to close out, Datto Academy does not register that the course was completed.
- When you click the Submit/Exit button, a pop up appears and asks the you to update the Adobe Flash plugin.
Cause
There is a conflict with Firefox, Adobe Flash, and the software that runs Datto Academy.
Solution
There are two options for the user to complete the course:
- Close out of Firefox and open the course in either Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, or Chrome.
- Close out of Firefox and go to Mozilla Support and download and install the Adobe Flash Plugin. After installing the plugin start/restart the course.
How to Install the Adobe Flash Player
Go to Adobe's Flash Player download page, and download the Flash installer.
Adobe's download page may include a checkbox for optional software (such as Google Chrome or McAfee Security Scan) that is selected by default. If you do not clear the checkbox before downloading, that software will be installed on your computer when you open the Flash installer.
When the download has finished, close Firefox.
Open the Flash installer file you downloaded, and follow the instructions.
