What Is a PoE Injector, and When Are They Needed?

What is a Power over Ethernet injector, and when are they needed in Datto Networking?

  • Datto Networking

A Power over Ethernet injector is a modular power supply that provides PoE functionality on a network with a non-PoE switch. If your network switches do not have Power over Ethernet capability, you will need a PoE injector to power Datto Networking access points. PoE injectors are available through Datto. Older PoE modules may not work with current Datto Networking equipment.

PoE injectors must conform to IEEE 802.3af standard to successfully power Datto Access Points.
