What is an archived agent?
- Datto SIRIS
- Datto ALTO
An archived agent is the backup chain of a protected system which has been permanently converted to a read-only archive by a device operator through the Archive Agent function. Archived agents retain their ability to be used for restoration in the event of a Disaster Recovery scenario, but you cannot write new backups to them.
Archived agents count against the device's total agent limit. X1 and X2 devices also have a minimum active agent limit which they must maintain. The following table shows the total number of archived agents you may have on a Datto appliance at any time:
Any offsite data for archived agents will count against your appliance's total offsite data quota. Any device on per-agent billing will continue to be billed for the archived dataset until you delete the agent locally and offsite.
