This article details valid search parameters and operators for use when doing restores as well as how to use the snapshot level and domain level searches for Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection for G Suite.

Description

Searchable fields within Recovery

If you are using the search feature, you will be limited to querying the following fields:

  • The subject line of the email
  • The sender address of the email
  • Title of the document
  • Title of the calendar event
  • Name or email address of the contact card

Boolean operators in a restore search query

You can use Boolean operators (like AND and OR) in search queries. Make sure to capitalize them in the query.

Search limitations

  • A search query must have at least three characters.  
  • Symbols, such as !, @, +, etc. cannot be searched.  
  • Underscores must be preceded by a forward slash (e.g. "\_" )

Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection has two search levels:

Snapshot level search

From your Backupify/Datto SaaS Protection dashboard, click the Recovery tab and select the service you wish to search through or click the service listed under Backups.

Select the user from Users.

In the user snapshot view, click the Search Account button to open the Search Term dialogue box. Here, you can search for this user/service for metadata containing the keyword you entered.

You can also search through a different snapshot for a user. Click the date under Snapshot to the left of the search box and select an available date and time to search that specific snapshot instead.

Domain level search

To search at the domain level, choose a service (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts), and click the Search tab.

In this tab, you can enter a keyword to search metadata across some or all users in the domain. To specify certain users, begin entering a user's name or email address in the Users section. You can select multiple users simultaneously by pressing Enter and entering another user's name or email address.

You can also search across different snapshots by clicking the calendar icon under the Date section. This search will not show exact snapshots as backup times vary from user to user; instead, the date and time search finds the last backup before the specified times for each user/service being searched.
