Datto Networking: Routers: Router Status



This article describes the status page for a Datto router.


  • Datto Routers


The Datto Networking Portal provides a status page for each router in your network that displays granular details about the device, a graphical overview of each port, client information, and more.


1. Navigate to a device web session for your router.

2. Click the Manage drop-down and choose Routers, as seen in Figure 1.

3. Click the name of your desired router, then click Status, as seen in Figure 2.

Router Name

Click the 📝 icon under Router Status to change the name of your router.

Router Information

The Router Information section provides the following information about your router:

  • Last Checkin: Displays your router's last successful check-in
  • Uptime: Displays how long your has been powered on and operational
  • Model: Displays the model number of your router
  • MAC: Displays the MAC address of your router
  • Firmware Version: Displays the firmware version your router is currently running
  • WAN IP: Displays the WAN IP address of your router
  • DDNS: Displays the Dynamic DNS (DDNS) hostname associated with your router. All routers are assigned a DDNS that always resolves to the current WAN IP address of your router. This allows features such as VPN or LTE failover to sustain a WAN IP change.
  • LTE Status: Displays the operational status of the LTE modem, followed by its use status (Standby, In use)
  • LTE Carrier: Displays the wireless carrier your router uses for establishing an LTE connection
  • LTE Signal: Displays the LTE broadcast signal strength

Router Ports

The Router Status page provides a graphic that displays all ports on your router, alongside their current status. Hovering your mouse cursor over a port will display additional details about that port. The information about your ports is available through this graphic:

  • Green port: The port is active.
  • Grey port: The port is inactive.
  • Black port: The port is disabled.
  • White text: The port has Powered over Ethernet (PoE) disabled.
  • Orange text: The port has Powered over Ethernet (PoE) disabled.
  • White dot: This port has an uplink connection.

Router Utilization

The Router Utilization section provides two charts to show traffic use and traffic groups over a set period of time: Bandwidth Use, and Traffic Groups.

Bandwidth Use

By default, the Bandwidth Use line chart displays all download and upload data use over a set period of time. Clicking a traffic group type in the Traffic Group pie chart will display an additional line for that traffic.

Hover your mouse cursor on either line to display the timestamp and data use for a specific point in time. To view overall bandwidth use for the last 2 hours, last day, last week, or last month, use the drop-down next to Router Utilization to select a time range.

Traffic Groups

The Traffic Group pie chart that displays all types of identifiable traffic. You can display the following traffic groups:

  • Encrypted
  • Video
  • File sharing
  • Web
  • Audio
  • Search
  • Social News
  • Gaming
  • Voice
  • Miscellaneous

Hovering your mouse over a traffic group section in the pie chart will display the total data use, the percentage of data in ratio to all other identified traffic groups, and downloaded/uploaded data. Clicking a traffic group section will display an additional line in the Bandwidth Use graph.

You can view all traffic groups for the last 2 hours, last day, last week, or last month by using the drop-down next to Router Utilization to select a time range.

Traffic Group Details

Clicking Show Traffic Details will display the contents of the Traffic Groups pie chart into a table listing the Group, Upload, Download, and Total Usage.

Clicking the gear icon will allow you to export traffic group details as a CSV or XML file.

Router Clients

The Router Clients table displays all connected clients within the last 30 days. You can click View Options to choose what columns display in the table. The following information is available about clients, with all possible columns displaying in Figure 7:

  • Hostname / MAC Address: Displays the hostname and/or MAC address of the client if advertised
  • IP: Displays the IP address of the client
  • Last Seen: Displays when the client was last connected to the router
  • Last Seen On: Displays what router or device the client was last seen in
  • OS: Displays the device type of the client

Click the ⚙️ icon to export the Routers Client table to a CSV or XML file.
