This article provides troubleshooting steps to take when assessing Datto RMM ESXi monitoring issues.

Verify supported version of ESXi
Verify that Datto RMM supports your version of ESXi.
Verify credentials have root access and full CIM permissions
Ensure that the credentials accessing your VMware instance have root level access and full CIM permissions. Also ensure their usernames and passwords are correct.
Ensure the ESXi host does not contain network node
Do not perform ESXi monitoring tasks using a Network Node that the ESXi host also contains.
Verify the network node uses Windows
The Network Node requires a virtual machine running the Windows operating system.
Verify the agent software version
Out of date agents can cause problems when communicating to an updated platform. Update all agents to the latest version.
