AP (or Switch) already exists in another network


With security mechanisms built directly into CloudTrax, we're able to prevent your Open Mesh devices from being maliciously removed from an active network and added into another by locking down our APs (and Switches) to the network they're already registered against. As a result, resetting or re-flashing the devices will not release them from an active network. When/if the device is returned to a factory-fresh state, upon next check-in it'll be synchronized with the network it belongs to.


When adding a new Access Point to your network you may run into the following errors:

Oops... Something’s not quite right: Mac (AC:86:74:XX:XX:XX) already exists in another network. (17002)

If you've purchased one of our APs from somewhere besides our store (https://www.openmesh.com/products) or one of our licensed distributors (https://openmesh.com/company/distributors.html), it is possible that the AP had been added to a network previously.

Your next step is to contact Open-Mesh support (https://kb.datto.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) and include the MAC address of your unit as well as proof-of-purchase.
