Script sample: allow private addresses for public DNS name space

Follow

Note: This script is no longer required for 5xx or 6.x firmware. It is here for historical purposes only.

This script configures the DNS server on each node to allow public DNS names (e.g. example.com) to resolve to private IP addresses like 192.168.x.x which usually results in a lookup failure for security reasons.

#!/bin/sh

# allow private addresses for public DNS name space
# (www.example.com => 192.168.x.x.)
uci set dhcp.conf.rebind_protection=0
uci commit

# restart the dns server to apply the settings
/etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart
