Legacy Open Mesh: What Does the PoE Warning Sticker on the OM2P Access Point Mean?

What does the PoE Warning sticker on the OM2P Access Point mean?

  • Datto OM2P Access Points

Some OM series devices are not compatible with typical 48V POE provided by POE switches. Our devices run on 12-24V passive PoE, which is much lower than the typical 48V standard.

Plugging one of our devices into an older 48V switch can potentially harm the OM2P.

All OM series devices will run perfectly between 12-24V. We also provide our own set of power injectors that are available on our website.

The OM2P-HS v2 model (May 2014 and later) supports standard 802.3af PoE in addition to passive PoE, so it can be run on a PoE switch.
