Errors When Virtualizing Machines Running SUSE Linux Enterprise 11

When attempting to virtualize a SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 system, the VM boots to a terminal login. The virtualization boot process shows multiple failures and includes errors mentioning a read-only file system.

SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 does not boot correctly from a read-only volume. HIR injects a custom GRUB configuration file which sets the volume as read-only.

Open /boot/grub/grub.cfg in a text editor and remove the RO (read-only) value from the boot process. You can now successfully boot the vmInstance. Datto recommends upgrading to SUSE Enterprise Linux 12 as a long-term solution.
