Legacy Open Mesh: 12-24v Passive PoE

This article explains PoE compatibility for Open Mesh OM Series access points.

  • Open Mesh OM Series access points

Open Mesh OM Series access points are compatible with passive 12-24v PoE. Passive PoE keeps costs low, reduces heat dissipation and allows for the most compact size possible. The OM2P is passive PoE only, which is not 802.3af PoE compatible, so it cannot be used with standard PoE switches or PoE injectors. The OM2P-HS and OM5P-AC can be powered by both passive and 802.3af PoE. The MR Series and A Series are 802.3af PoE only.

Note: Do not use PoE switches to directly power OM2P-LC, OM2P or OM5P access points. Doing so will void the warranty and may damage the units.
