Legacy Open Mesh: 12-24v passive Power over Ethernet

This article explains Power over Ethernet (PoE) compatibility for Open Mesh OM-Series access points.

  • Open Mesh OM-Series Access Points

Open Mesh OM Series access points are compatible with passive 12-24v PoE. Passive PoE offers:

  • low purchase cost.
  • reduced heat dissipation.
  • compact size.

Open Mesh Access Point compatibility with Power over Ethernet

  • The OM2P is passive PoE only, and not 802.3af PoE compatible; you cannot use it with standard PoE switches or PoE injectors.
  • The OM2P-HS and OM5P-AC are compatible with both passive and 802.3af PoE.
  • The MR Series and A Series are 802.3af PoE only.
Do not use PoE switches to power OM2P-LC, OM2P, or OM5P access points directly. Doing so will void the warranty and may damage the units.
