Autotask PSA: Why can't I change the Tracking Identifier associated with my API User?

Question

Why can't I change the Tracking Identifier associated with my API User?

Environment

  • Autotask PSA

Answer

Once an API Tracking Identifier has an API User assignment, the tracking identifier field becomes non-editable. One should never need to alter the tracking identification value associated with an API user, as doing so decreases the security surrounding this change, and skews tracked activity data for that user.

If you must change the value associated with a resource, you'll need to either create a new API User or create a copy of their existing API User.
