Autotask PSA: Error: "We are unable to save your changes at this time because there is a sync in progress, please try later."

Issue

When attempting to enable Microsoft Exchange integration, you see the following error message under the user profile advanced settings, "We are unable to save your changes at this time because there is a sync in progress, please try later."

Resolution

The request synchronization interval time is dependent on many factors and will vary depending on your database.

You may need to increase the time to adjust for heavy usage.

Increase the request synchronization interval to at least an hour to ensure that the new sync will not begin before the previous one has ended. Once the sync has completed, you can adjust the time back.

Adjusting the sync interval

1. Navigate to the Autotask menu → Admin → Extensions & Integrations → Microsoft Extensions → MS Exchange → General tab.  

2. Enter a time of at least 60 minutes in the box labeled Request Synchronization every.

Wait at least one hour before trying to save your resource's profile information. 

After you save the changes to your resource's profile, you can revert the interval to its previous setting.
