Can I use the Autotask Microsoft Exchange Extension with two-factor authentication or multi-factor authentication enabled?

Answer

If you wish to use the Autotask Microsoft Exchange Extension with two-factor authentication (2FA) or multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled, you will need to set up an app password.

An app password is a code that gives an app or device permission to access your Office 365 account and bypasses any additional authentication such as 2FA.

Datto cannot assist with generating this password. See the Microsoft article Create an app password for Office 365 (external link) for help.

Once you generate your app password, ensure that all accounts configured for this extension (including the sync account on the General tab of the integration) use their app password and not their Microsoft password.
