Datto Autotask PSA: Can I use Single Sign-On (SSO) if accessing the Web Services API?

Follow

Question

Can I use Single Sign-On (SSO) if accessing the Web Services API?

Environment

  • Datto Autotask PSA

Answer

No. If you have enabled Single Sign-On for your API user or for all resources in your Autotask database, the Web Services API will disregard the configuration.

There is no way to force the API user to authenticate through your IDP. If the user has Single Sign-On enabled for the user, the Web Services API will respect the password which existed for the user pre-SSO, and it will never expire.

For more information, see our Datto Autotask PSA: API User Security Role article.
