This article provides step-by-step instructions for how to install and deploy Cloud Continuity for PCs via RMM.

Description

Purchasing your subscription

Before you can install Cloud Continuity for PCs via RMM, you must first purchase a subscription and define your commitment term. To do so, follow the directions outlined below:

1. Navigate to the Datto Partner Portal.

2. Click the Purchasing & Billing tab, then select Store from the drop-down menu.

3. From the Datto Store page, select the Unified Continuity product class, then choose Cloud Continuity as the product family.

4. In the Configure Subscription panel, select the subscription plan, commitment term, and payment plan desired.

5. Click the SAVE & CHECKOUT button at the bottom-right of the page. You will be redirected to the Checkout page.

6. On the Checkout page, under the Payment panel, add a Payment Method and Billing Address if you have not already done so.

7. Scroll down to the Place Order panel, then perform the following steps:

A: Enter your mailing address info.

B: Check the I ACCEPT box.

C: Click PLACE ORDER.

Creating your RMM template

1. Navigate back to the Datto Partner Portal.

2. Click the Status tab, then select Cloud Continuity Status from the drop-down menu.

3. At the top of the Cloud Continuity Status page, click the CREATE RMM TEMPLATE button. Doing so will open a dialog window titled New RMM Template.

4. In the New RMM Template dialog window, create a template to generate a token for RMM use by following the directions outlined below:

A: Select a client from the Client Name drop-down menu.

If you have not already created a client, select Create New.

B: From the Select Data Center drop-down menu, select the storage location for your backups.

C: Under Select Subscription Type, select the type of subscription you would like to deploy.

D: Click the CREATE TEMPLATE button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Accessing your RMM token

1. From the Cloud Continuity Status page, click the name of your client under the Client Name field. The client settings page will load for the client you have selected.

2. Under the RMM Templates panel, locate the TOKEN field, then click the clipboard icon to copy the token to your clipboard.

You will need your token code later on in the procedure.

Installing your agent component

1. Navigate to Autotask.net, click the second tab labeled Datto RMM, then log in with your account credentials.

2. From the Datto RMM dashboard, access the ComStore (Datto RMM Online Help). 

3. Search and install Datto Cloud Continuity Agent [WIN]. This RMM package component will allow you to deploy the Cloud Continuity Agent to multiple devices from a single source.

Deploying the Cloud Continuity Agent via RMM

1. Under the Sites tab on the Datto RMM dashboard, select the devices on which you'd like to install the Datto Cloud Continuity agent by checking the box on the left side of the Device Hostname column. Click the gear icon with the blue arrow over it (Figure 13) to open the Run a quick job dialog box, where you can see the list of agent components you can run as quick jobs.

Components must be set as favorites from the Component list (yellow star icon) before they will appear in the Quick Jobs list (Figure 14).

If you wish to target jobs against filters or perform more in-depth deployments, you should schedule a job (Datto RMM Online Help).

2. In the Run Quick Job dialog box, click Datto Cloud Continuity Agent [WIN]. Doing so will list out five variables that you can configure, which allows you to control how you want to deploy the agent.

3. Select True or False for each of the following variable drop-down items:

  • usrInstallAgent
    • Set to True to install the agent.
    • Set to False to run a compatibility check.
  • usrIgnoreWarnings
    • Set to True to ignore all dismissable warnings from the requirements scan and press ahead with an installation operation.
    • Set to False to permit warnings to halt script executions.
  • usrRebootDevice
    • Set to True to reboot the endpoint once the installation is complete.
    • Set to False to avoid rebooting the endpoint.
  • usrUninstall
    • Set to True to uninstall Datto Cloud Continuity and ignore all other options.
      • This option does not require a token to be provided.
    • Set to False to move forward with the installation process.

4. In the usrRegToken field, enter the registration token you generated when you created the RMM template.

5. To see a list of all active jobs, check the box labeled Follow to jobs list page on submit at the bottom of the dialog box.

6. Click Save.

7. Allow a few minutes for the installation to complete.

If you would like to know the status of your installation, click the component name under the Name column (Figure 20). An installation status page will load. (Figure 21).

Viewing the job results of your agent installation

1. From the Datto RMM dashboard, click the Jobs tab, then select Completed Jobs from the drop-down menu.

2. Click the job name that matches your Cloud Continuity deployment.

3. On the next page, click the icon under the Stdout column.
